Description and Activities:
See a touch of history on 60 acres of lush gardens, showcasing rare, exotic and native plants. Tour through citrus groves and the Wray Botanical Collection. Explore the "Free-Flight" Aviary, Everglades Wildlife Sanctuary and the Historic Wray Home. Visit our gift & garden shops and enjoy an eco-experience of the Florida Everglades.

ATTRACTIONS AT FLAMINGO GARDENS
Everglades "Free Flight" Aviary
Walk through our 25,000 square foot Everglades “free-flight” facility housing one of the largest collections of wading birds in America. Five ecosystems are represented through the display of native plants.

The Wildlife Encounter
Live presentation featuring Florida’s native wildlife, such as birds of prey & reptiles and their relationship to the environment. Offered daily. 12:30, 1:30 & 2:30.

Bird of Prey Center
A showcase of South Florida’s rare birds in their naturalistic habitat. These birds are either at-risk or endangered and can not be released because of injuries sustained in the wild.

Tram Tour
Narrated tram ride through the tropical rainforest, native hammock, wetland areas, and groves. The tour is fully narrated, lasting approximately 25 minutes.

Tropical Plant House
A display of Orchids, Calatheas and other unique plants.

Flamingo Island
A lush area for Flamingos amidst tropical vegetation and sparkling waterfalls.

River Otter and Bobcat Habitats
Natural habitats are home to Florida wildlife.

Alligator Lagoon
An educational exhibit of Florida’s native alligators.

Flamingo Gardens Gift Shop
A shopping area to purchase innovative gifts and souvenirs. NATURE’S WORLD, the book store (with over 1,000 titles) is located inside.

Gator Grill
An open seating area offers a relaxing opportunity to enjoy a snack, refreshments, sandwiches and desserts. Catering available upon request.

Garden Shop
Specializing in tropical and exotic plants and garden accessories.

Fresh Fruit Patio
Freshly squeezed juices, fruit smoothies, fresh fruits, produce, gourmet gift items and fruit shipping.

Arboretum
One can study one of the largest collection of towering Champion trees in this area accented with lush understorey planting and waterfall.

Xeriscape Garden
This area is used to demonstrate the uses of various materials which are appropriate for use in a low maintenance, minimal irrigation garden. Our goal is to make it clear to the visitor that “Xeriscape” can include a wide and varied choice of plants, native and exotic, to create an attractive landscape while not resorting to the wasteful use of water.

Wray Home
The original residence of our founders Floyd L. and Jane Wray, built in 1933, remains a focal point of the Gardens. This house is registered with the Broward County Historical Commission and the State of Florida.

"Flamingo Pond" Snack & Refreshment Center at the Flamingo Pond
Visitors can enjoy cool beverages including Flamingo Gardens fresh squeezed juices, delicious sandwiches and snacks from the Gator Grill and relax overlooking our tranquil pink caribbean flamingos in their naturalistic enviornment.

Butterfly Garden / Hummingbird Garden
These gardens host a variety of flowering plants and shrubs to attract many different species of butterflys & hummingbirds. The Ruby Throat hummingbird visits Flamingo Gardens in the winter. A seasonal area.

Citrus Collection
A citrus collection has been developed to include all known cultivars of citrus, which can be grown in our region. This variety includes commercial and ornamental types. This collection and citrus laboratory have been restored to prominence, which is the historical basis for Flamingo Gardens. It gives visitors an opportunity to see and sometimes taste many types of citrus.
